We would like to congratulate our social enterprise SEED for being recognised as a semi-finalist for the Empowerment through Diversity and Inclusion Award in the 2024 Tasmanian Community Achievement Awards.

This award recognises organisations and individuals who have significantly promoted and dedicated outstanding efforts in advocating for diversity and inclusion within their community.

Tasmanian Health Minister Jacquie Petrusma presented the award certificate to the SEED team during the Awards Gala Presentation dinner at Hotel Grand Chancellor in Hobart last week.

Social Enterprise, Employment and Diversity (SEED) is a for purpose organisation dedicated to empowering people with disability in Southern Tasmania by providing them with employment opportunities at full award wages.

SEED General Manager Jackie Gregory said this recognition was a proud moment for the team, which is “an amazing opportunity” for people with disability in our community.

“If you can’t see it, you can’t be it. And if you don’t see people with disability working, as a person with a disability, you may not think you could,” Jackie said.

“Seeing these wonderful employees engage with the community on a daily basis at various sites during work, and then socialise after hours with other members of the community shows what meaningful employment can do.”
