Over the past few weeks, our team attended Speak Out’s ‘Gearing Up For Choice and Control’ Disability Expos in Devonport and Hobart again this year and for the first time in Launceston.
Disability expos are always a wonderful opportunity to connect with the local community and let them learn a bit about Nexus. Our staff from across the organisation attended, enthusiastically representing Nexus at the expos throughout the state.
It was great to chat with hundreds of attendees from across Tasmania, discussing the types of support Nexus provides, including Supported Living, Community Access, Complex Support, Customised Employment, and our Children and Youth and Respite program.
Nexus received incredible response in all three locations. In Launceston, we were particularly pleasantly surprised to hear people say they had heard good things about Nexus’ quality of support and local community members were pleased that Nexus was looking to provide services in the region. Visitors to the Nexus table in Launceston also showed a particular interest in our Complex Health Support options and support for autistic young people.
Young attendees in Hobart loved playing with our sensory toys, Hookey set, play dough, and colouring sheets in a little play area we created beside our table. They were thrilled when they won prizes from our Toy Vending Machine.
Everyone who visited our stands across the state also enjoyed fresh apples straight from our orchard!
Thank you to everyone who stopped by for a chat. We loved meeting you all.
