At Nexus, we are honoured to be one of the four finalists for the Large Employer of the Year Award in the Tasmanian Training Awards 2024.
Presented by Skills Tasmania, the Large Employer of the Year Award recognises large businesses and enterprises that have achieved excellence in providing nationally recognised training to their employees.
We take pride in our innovative and inclusive learning and development program, and we are delighted that our decades of continuous training commitment has been recognised.
“People living with disability have a right to quality support, and the only way to ensure this is through proper training,” Nexus CEO Mark Jessop said.
“Training is a fundamental part of who we are at Nexus, and we are thrilled to be finalists for this award. It’s a proud moment for all our staff, who are always eager to learn more to support our clients to live the life they choose,” he said.
We work with a wide range of individuals, including those with acquired disabilities, cognitive or developmental difficulties, autism, behavioural issues, and complex health needs. We realise that each client has unique needs, so, a ‘one size fits all’ approach is ineffective.
Our staff undergo mandatory training essential for daily support and additional programs such as Autism training, Nexus-designed Trauma-Informed Support training, Epilepsy, Midazolam, Mealtime Assistance, and Complex Care.
To ensure our client needs are continually being met and staff are feeling supported and appropriately trained to do their job, we tailor our training rather than rolling out the same training for decades.
Thank you to the Tasmanian Training Awards for recognising Nexus’s innovative training culture.
Winners will be announced on Friday, 6 September 2024, at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, Launceston, and we are excited to meet the other great finalists there.
