Autism Capability Building Program Graduation

There was an exciting atmosphere in our Hobart office today as we celebrated the official graduation ceremony for our fourth group from the Autism Capability Building training program.

People on the autism spectrum make up 33 per cent of those on the NDIS in Tasmania, the highest percentage of any disability group.

At Nexus, we strongly believe that to provide the best support to the autistic community, we must provide our staff with tailored autism training and look through the lens of autism.

“It was great to once again see our staff enthusiastically undertaking this tailored training which will allow our graduates to better understand the highly complex and diverse nature of Autism and better support our autistic clients,”  Nexus Operations and Practice Manager Alyson Richardson said.

The fourth group of our Autism training graduates included staff from across the organisation and at different levels.

In this training, participants complete a session once a week for five weeks, covering the topics of Thinking and Understanding, Communication and Visual Supports, Sensory Processing, and Social and Behavioural; today marked week two of the training.
