On International Women’s Day last week, our staff across the organisation came together to recognise the achievements of women in our Nexus community.
We celebrated the way Nexus fosters the culture of inclusion and reflected the ways we could continue to do more going forward.
Our General Manager of People and Practice, Annette, gave a speech to the group during the Women’s Day staff lunch.
Annette emphasised recognising the diversity of women at Nexus and the value they bring to our community through their knowledge and experience.
Annette said that Women’s Day is something that we should be celebrating and recognising every single day.
“We are lucky at Nexus to have women of diverse backgrounds, experiences and abilities,” Annette said.
“We should not celebrate Womens Day just once a year, it should be ongoing, every day, all day.”
In the lead up to International Women’s Day, we also shared some inspiring stories of women in Nexus:
Sara arrived at Nexus with no support worker experience – just a whole lot of enthusiasm! A decade on and Sara is now the Assistant Manager of the Complex Support team. Please click here to read Sara’s full story.
After starting her Customised Employment program with Nexus a couple of years ago, our client Britney has not looked back. She is now employed with several companies across Hobart, including our social enterprise- SEED. Please click here to read Britney’s story.
