Sara arrived at Nexus with no support worker experience – just a whole lot of enthusiasm!
At the time, the Manager of Supported Living saw potential in her and gave her a job in their team.
It was the right call.
A decade on and Sara is now the Assistant Manager of the Complex Support team.
“My professional journey so far has been great,” Sara said. “[Nexus] has always provided equal opportunities for staff, regardless of your gender.”
This International Women’s Day, Nexus is celebrating the stories of women across the Nexus community.
With all four of our operational divisions led by women, we are very proud of the work we do to empower women to take on leadership roles.
However, we know there is always more work to be done and we place importance on providing more opportunities for women to achieve their professional goals.
“I really look forward to supporting more women and empowering them to go into leadership roles within Nexus,” Sarah said.
“Now I’m on the other side of the fence as an Assistant Manager, I’m interviewing staff and giving them that opportunity to have that start in their career that I was given.”
Having now worked across three divisions at Nexus, Sara says that the most rewarding thing about working for Nexus is working with a great team from all levels.
“It’s just fantastic – there’s nowhere else I’d rather be.”
