Whether they were showing off their video skills, or working up a sweat on the basketball court, a group of our Community Services clients had a great time experiencing everything on offer at the Youth Arts and Recreation Centre (Youth ARC) last week.
Organised by our Community Services Assistant Team Leader, Daniel Chevallier, the Come and Try Day at Youth ARC had a great turn out. Christopher, Adam, Jeremy, Jacob, Brock, Alex and Jesse, all Nexus clients, went along to learn more about what Youth ARC offers.
Video games and basketball were the favourites on the day with Chris attempting an amazing one-handed shot!
This is the first of our Come and Try Days to be held in conjunction with Youth Arc. The aim of these sessions is to encourage clients to attend Youth ARC’s Open Access sessions. These are held daily from 3-6pm for all community members. Our Community Services team is keen to support clients to attend these sessions, make friends, and improve their fitness. These are all things that clients have said are important to them.
Connections are already being made with two clients and their support workers heading out for lunch together after the event.
Thank you to Youth ARC for welcoming us and we look forward to hosting more sessions!
